WHEN OUTSIDE WAS OPEN W|PRINCESS NOKIA— #TBT

I want to say that it’s odd that black people are always the ones disproportionately affected by the world’s heaviest burdens, but truthfully, it’s nothing short of predictable. COVID-19 has been wreaking havoc on the black community—and the good ol’ Amerikkkan system wouldn’t have it any other way.  Black people have always been systemically targeted to crumble at the prevalence of any calamity beyond our control.

Yet, our spirits are masterfully created and cannot be subdued. No matter how antagonized, our influence on this world can never be dismantled. Though hunted for sport, socially conditioned to go from schools to prisons, strategically placed in food deserts and silently burdened by word gaps, chronic illnesses and an oppressive social structure— we rise.
